To take control of an Artifact or Ruin, move a unit near it.

I’ve sometimes “let” my opponent steal an Artifact, just so I can follow it back to their town. Watch an enemy-controlled Artifact crawl across the map (even under Fog of War), and you’re likely to find the enemy’s main base. These objects change color when they are controlled by a player, providing some very useful intelligence about enemy movements and positions.

In my experience, most humans ignore Artifacts and Ruins even with the victory conditions set to “Standard”, they focus on an offensive military.Īrtifacts and Ruins begin the game unclaimed, appearing white on the minimap. Should you have a wolf mother at this point I would suggest the Old Road as it gives you a chance to learn some animal summons that I think you would otherwise get a little bit later instead.I am sorely tempted to forego the troll artillery for a wolf mother, even though I know the former is the far better choice. When playing with the “Standard” victory conditions, Artifacts and Ruins (which I call “objects”) provide an alternative to conquests and wonders. Originally posted by:It doesn't change the aspect of the story from what I've seen, only the content of what you fight on the mission that you chose. They aren't 'all that' so you probably want to start working on armored or magic slingers (needed go kill dragon riding Empire Generals, a real pain in the butt on a couple maps). You won't encounter the Centaurs until after the Sunken Lands and after the Dragon Isle, they are in the city to the North of Dragon Isle, so about 2/3's or 3/4's of he way thru the campaign. You do however get some more supply, I think I am up 36 total now. IriaJ, I never got the supply back from the theft, and it was never resolved and I am on the last battle for the capitol. Originally posted by:Make sure you find and clear all ruins, shrines, villages, towers, castles, etc., on all maps as on my second play through I got around 3 mana at the same point where I had only gotten 1 mana on the first play through (though it might be RNG?).RNG:/ I ransacked every location present in every map (made sure to have searched all the out of the way corners too) but I only ever got 3 armor and 1 liquid mana (scavenged after Heartspire)A little annoyed it's still so random, after they already looked into it once. Is the thief ever caught and supply returned? Iseal gives you tough decisions, you either ruin all your current troll units and debuff your sister, or you lose Ulnar the bear and put a big debuff on your main character in return for 12 armor piercing sword.A question about the shrouded hills in the Sunken Lands: after the mission someone steals 1 supply. The white hills has a unique reward for a unit that visits the tree resource, the frenzy ability, which might be great for an armored slinger if you are good at placement for lots of retaliation fire.Fighting Iseal over Clan Marchar. The old road seems easier, and is quite straight forward and doesn't require splitting your army.

There's a large Empire taskforce to the NW of your main objective, and a 'cursed' forest full of beasts and Empire skirmishers to the SE where your second main objective is. In Synor and the North, when you get her to Rime you get allied with Rime and receive 5 Empire units (sadly, only for the mission) - 2 Longbowmen and 3 Legionnaires.I haven't played Bay of Kyrios to completion, but Synor and the North is interesting. However, during the Bay of Kyrios mission you run across some Centaurs - if you accept their aid in return for Empire land, Marcra will get -1 morale (possibly with some story consequences down the road, too).In Bay of Kyrios Marcra's help means +4 weapons, +4 armor and gold. You can refuse him (he strongly hints that he'll desert anyway), let him go (you get +4 liquid mana from his tent), execute him for desertion (you get an epic artifact and +8 liquid mana), or bribe him to stay.If you bribe Dolos (I'm fairly certain giving him gold and mana yields the same result as giving him mana only) after Porikos he'll hand you an Extractor and 2 other minor artifacts.Choice 7: Synor and the North or Bay of Kyrios. You get -1 morale for Ailsa if you accept Marcra's help in Synor and the North, no such debuff if you accept Marcra's help in Bay of Kyrios. Kanthas also yields 2 guaranteed Blood Oak Bows - north - mid part of the map there is a Blood Oak, an event there.Golden Coast gives +5 supply.Story Choice Dolos:Before Porikos Dolos asks to leave. The Centaur Shock Cavalry (basic and upgrade) are fairly meh, but the Archers are very useful - decent physical damage archers and they have the Pathfinder Aura, so +2 movement for all nearby units.
